Bursting with character, our 22 boutique double rooms have all been recently refurbished to offer a warm and restful retreat. Each room offers a cosy base to explore the charming countryside in and around Saffron Walden.
Every room has its own distinctive style, giving guests a choice of character and comfort. Thoughtful amenities include flat screen TVs, complimentary Wifi. and tea and coffee facilities for a relaxing stay.
In the bathrooms, you’ll find luxurious hand and body wash, lotion, shampoo and conditioner from Connock England. The Verdant fragrance collection, created especially for our guests, is inspired by the lush, green landscapes in our region.
Each room is just a short stroll from the pub, where you can savour our award winning breakfast in the morning, or unwind with a delicious evening meal crafted from the best seasonal ingredients.

GOOD ROOMS
Our Good Rooms are situated within the heart of the pub itself, offering a true cosy country inn experience. Each has been thoughtfully and fully refurbished, blending historic charm and modern comfort. Expect all the finishing touches you would find in a boutique stay, from plush bedding to stylish furniture that makes your visit feel special and effortless.
BETTER ROOMS
Modern in style and crafted for comfort, our Better Rooms are located in the Courtyard and Pavilion, right next to the pub.
The courtyard ensuite rooms are all situated on the ground floor and are fully dog-friendly - ideal for those travelling with furry companions. Meanwhile, our Pavilion rooms are split across the ground floor and first floor, offering a contemporary retreat with easy access to the countryside charm.
For a larger, stylised room, choose our Better Rooms for a little more space for that couple's getaway.

BEST ROOMS
Our Best Rooms are situated in The Willow, offering a boutique experience with extra space, comfort and character. Each room is individually curated, featuring unique, elegant furnishings and a generous double bed to ensure a restful stay.
Several rooms in The Willow also include a private outdoor seating area with a table and chairs, perfect for a peaceful morning coffee or unwinding with a drink while admiring the beautiful views of the farmland.
For guests with reduced mobility, one of our Best Rooms has been specifically designed with accessibility. It features a spacious, modern wet room and convenient free parking close by.

CONNOCK ENGLAND
In our bedrooms and communal spaces, we have worked closely with our fragrance partner, Connock England, to create a scent belonging and connections to our surroundings.
The Verdant fragrance collection was created for our guests and inspired by the countryside in our region. It is a fresh, green fragrance crafted using a vibrant blend of essential oils to capture the essence of the place we call home.
Verdant has notes of blackcurrant, English rose and fig that are layered with uplifting citrus, eucalyptus and peppermint. This is paired with grounding undertones of sandalwood and amber, adding warmth and depth.
If you'd like to fill your home with the scent of country walks and summer evenings, shop the Verdant collection. This includes hand and body wash, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, room and linen mist, reed diffuser, candle, eau de parfum, and a handy travel set.
